For the 13th year in a row the City of Lake Stevens has received a clean audit report with no findings. The latest audit covers the period of 2007 through 2008 the same time the City was doubling in size through annexation.
“This is very exciting. Our staff has worked very hard to ensure we maintain our solid financial base as we have continued to grow,” states City Administrator Jan Berg.
The State Auditor’s Office examines the City’s financial statements to ensure that they present fairly the revenue and expenditures of the City and evaluate the accountability and safeguarding of public assets. The Auditor also reviews the City’s policies and procedures to ensure that they comply with state and federal regulations.
“We take the safeguarding of the public’s assets very seriously,” stated Berg. “I think our continuous positive results reflect this determination.”
