The next steps in the judging process are to determine which three 2011 IGA USA Retailers of the Year finalists will be awarded the additional title of 2011 IGA International Retailer of the Year. Three USA International Retailers of the Year will be announced on January 10, 2011, and will be honored along with their fellow Retailers of the Year from other countries at the IGA Global Rally Awards Ceremony to be held March 28, 2011 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Only  Five Star IGA retailers are eligible to participate in the IGA Retailer of the Year Awards competition. To be considered for the Retailer of the Year Awards, Granite Falls IGA had to demonstrate excellence in IGA Marketing Events, Brand Support, Employee Development, Merchandising and Innovation, and Community Involvement.

Mike Trask, owner, Granite Falls Market Fresh IGA, said, “I am very proud of my entire grocery store team. To reach this far in the Retailer of the Year Awards assessment process says a lot about their level of dedication to our business and the local community. From the time our store transitioned to an IGA they have worked very hard to ensure we live up to and beyond the high standards of IGA. This honor also reflects the incredible support our local community has given us over the years we wouldn’t be here if it were not for them.”

As a member of the elite group of finalists for the IGA Retailer of the Year Award, the store will receive a special plaque of recognition and $1,000 to celebrate with employees. In addition the store will be featured in IGA’s Independent View newsletter and Grocerygram magazine.
