City of Arlington Fire Department along with Marysville Fire District, Fire Dist. 19 and North County Fire responded to a two alarm fire that broke out early this morning.  Police units were notified of a burglar alarm about 3:20am at the Smokey Point Plaza shopping center and when they arrived found a fully involved fire at one end of the building.

Upon arrival fire crews could hear what sounded like ammunition going off inside the Pawn Shop where the fire was at its peak.  Crews took a defensive approach to fighting the fire, then broke windows and fought the fire from inside the stores on the west side as well as through the attic to help knock the fire down quickly.

It took crews about hour to get it fully under control, limiting the major damage to four businesses, two completely destroyed.  The power was cut to all of the 13 businesses in the complex initially but PUD crews have restored power to the least affected businesses now.

Snohomish County Fire Marshall and Arlington Police Department are currently on scene with Arlington Fire Department to determine the cause of the fire.
