Viewers and readers of KING 5 TV and its Web site have chosen Snohomish County’s Willis Tucker Park has one of the top five playground destinations in Western Washington.

More than 190,000 people completed a survey selecting the best playgrounds, shopping destinations, restaurants and more.

Willis Tucker, located at 6705 Puget Park Drive outside Snohomish, was ranked No. 4, with Everett’s Forest Park chosen as No. 1.

“We know that Willis Tucker is a favorite destination of residents in Snohomish County,” said Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon. “From top-class ball fields to walking trails to its spray pad and off-leash dog area, there’s something for everybody.”

Willis Tucker Park’s spray pad feature, a top draw for parents and children alike, was constructed in 2007 and opened in 2008. The project was paid for in part with $250,000 in Community Infrastructure Development Initiative (CIDI) funds. In 2006, Reardon proposed an innovative approach to funding needed infrastructure and recreational projects without a tax increase.

Additional amenities at Willis Tucker include shelters, an amphitheater and a large sand box. The park also serves as Snohomish County Parks’ administrative headquarters.
