Detectives are investigating a reported attempted abduction that happened Monday afternoon just outside a house in the 12200 block of 203rd Ave. SE in unincorporated Monroe.
An 8-year-old boy says he got off the bus and walked home, but didn’t lock the door behind him when he got inside. Nobody else was home at the time. At some point he heard the front door opening and went to see who was there. He said he saw a man standing on the front porch. The man told him to, “Come here” and also asked “Do you want to come with me?”
The boy said he was afraid and ran past the man. The boy kept running down the driveway and to a nearby relative’s house for help. He said the man chased him down the driveway and then got into a truck and left.
Nobody else witnessed the incident, which was reported about 4:30 p.m. Monday. The Sheriff’s Office has not received any similar reports.
The suspect is described as a white male, possibly in his 60s or 70s, about 6 feet tall with a skinny build, wearing a blue T-shirt, blue jeans and black shoes. He had short white or gray hair, a mustache and a scar under his right eye. The boy also said the man had a deep voice.
The suspect’s truck is described as a late 70s, early 80s dark red Chevy pickup with four tires in the back and some equipment in the bed of the truck (possibly an air compressor and a tool box).
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s tip line at 425-388-3845.
