Marysville detectives arrested Arlington resident, Ryan Gessell, 26, this afternoon following the completion of an investigation into the allegations the man was committing acts of voyeurism in a Marysville home he was renting a room in.

Police were originally called to the Marysville residence on January 19, 2010 when family members of the residence found a hidden video recorder in a bathroom.  When confronted by the family, Gessell admitted to having set up the video camera and recording images.  He fled the residence before police arrived.

Marysville detectives served a search warrant and took possession of evidence, including a multiple computers belonging to Gessell.

A department computer forensics expert was able to locate and retrieve images that had been taken from the hidden video camera along with a large amount of images of child pornography.  A minor female family member was the victim of the voyeurism.

Gessell had been living in the residence for several years and was treated as a member of the family.

During the investigation Gessell confessed to police to having created the videos of the victim in her bathroom without her knowledge and to downloading and viewing the child pornography.

He turned himself in to detectives at the Marysville Police Department and was then booked into the Snohomish County Jail for Voyeurism and Possession of Depictions of Minors Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct.
