Cantwell Says $3.4M for Health IT Job Training Will Open Career Paths in Strong Growth Field

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell announced a $3.4 million federal grant to Bellevue Community College to develop a health information technology (health IT) training program. This funding is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), which Cantwell supported.
“Training health care professionals in health IT will play a integral role in improving patient care and coordinating records,” said Senator Cantwell. “This funding will allow Bellevue Community College to develop a meaningful strategy to help health care providers and hospitals effectively implement and use electronic health records. The Bureau of Labor Statistics Recently listed the 10 occupations expected to produce the most job growth over the coming decade. Four of those job categories were in the health care field. As we continue rebuilding our economy, it is essential we provide the necessary training to continue developing our workforce.”
