EVERETT, WA:        The Everett Police Department Major Crimes Unit is investigating an apparent homicide.  Everett patrol offices responded to the 2000 block of 100th Street SW after receiving a 911 call reporting a suspicious looking sleeping bag lying along of the roadway about 15 feet from the edge of the road in plain view.  The 911 call came in at 9:26 A.M.  Officers arriving at the scene discovered a dark colored sleeping bag at the spot described by the 911 caller.  While checking out the scene officers discover a human foot sticking out of the sleeping bag.  They also observed duct tape wrapped around the same end of the sleeping bag as the foot.  The remainder of the body remained inside the sleeping bag.

The Major Crimes Unit detectives were processing the outdoor scene for most of the day.  They called in Washington State Patrol crime lab personnel to assist in processing the scene.  The body was removed from the scene by the Snohomish County Medical Examiners Office in the same manner that it was found in order to preserve any evidence that might be contained inside the sleeping bag.  Because of that the age, sex, and race of the victim will not be immediately available.

Investigators are treating this case as a homicide.  If anyone has any information regarding this incident they are encouraged to call the Everett Police Department TIP LINE at (425) 257 = 8450.

I do not anticipate and other information being released today.
