Photo caption: The governor signed House Bill 1519 into law April 14, which will help teachers and students with the transition from the current portfolio assessment to a common-task assessment for those with severe cognitive disabilities. It was sponsored by Rep. Mike Hope, R-Lake Stevens. Snohomish County teachers traveled to Olympia for the signing. The bill goes into effect 90 days after the adjournment of the legislative session, scheduled for April 24.
