Nearly two dozen Snohomish County law enforcement officers will be working this Memorial Day weekend during a DUI & Target Zero Emphasis Patrol funded by a special Target Zero grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.
 
With the long holiday weekend and upcoming proms and graduations, drivers can expect to see more law enforcement officers working special emphasis details to enforce traffic safety laws and to help educate drivers on the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
 
Law enforcement will have zero tolerance for underage drinking, driving under the influence, speeding or for not wearing a seatbelt.
 
“Making these poor choices causes the most deaths on our highways,” said Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon. “We want a fatality free holiday as well as a fatality free graduation and prom season in Snohomish County.”
 
Agencies participating include the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington State Patrol and police departments in Arlington, Bothell, Brier, Edmonds, Everett, Granite Falls, Lake Stevens, Lynnwood, Marysville, Mill Creek, Monroe, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, Snohomish and Tulalip.
