As many as seven million people over the age of 65 are living with cancer. Because older adults are at a higher risk for cancer, they should take advantage of changes in preventative benefits and receive regular screenings.

But what are the unique risks, issues and concerns of older adults where cancer is involved?

On Wednesday, June 22, Snohomish County will present “The Big C – What You Need to Know About Cancer as an Older Adult,” featuring two experts from Providence Regional Cancer Partnership who will address these topics.

Presenters Marilyn Birchman, an oncology clinical nurse, and Kathy Reiff, a patient navigator, also will offer information about local resources that support individuals with cancer.

Sponsored by Snohomish County Long Term Care & Aging, The Everett Clinic, and the Snohomish County Council on Aging, the event is free and open to the public. The session will be from 10:30 to noon at Compass Health Administrative Office’s Central Conference Room, Building 2, 4526 Federal Avenue, Everett.
