Plan for SR 522 closures near Monroe this week

MONROE – Monroe-area drivers should plan ahead for a full nighttime closure of SR 522 on Monday.
 
Crews installing a sign bridge will close all lanes of SR 522 near the US 2 interchange at 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15. Drivers will be detoured around the closure using 164th Street SE, Fryelands Blvd. and US 2. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16.
 
Drivers should also prepare for closures of the westbound lane of SR 522 near the Snohomish River Bridge on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 17 and 18. Crews will close the westbound lane from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. each night while they remove guardrail and install concrete barrier. A pilot car will guide westbound traffic through the work zone.

This work is part of the $23 million SR 522/US 2 interchange – widening and safety project and the $160 million SR 522 Snohomish River to US 2 widening project. Crews are building a new direct ramp from eastbound SR 522 to eastbound US 2: www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/SR522/US2Interchange.
