MONROE – Monroe-area drivers should plan ahead for overnight closures of the westbound SR 522 on- and off-ramps at 164th Street SE this week.
Crews will close the ramps at 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Sept. 12 - Sept. 15, while they begin widening work along the westbound lanes. The ramps will reopen at 5 a.m. each morning.
Drivers wishing to exit westbound SR 522 at 164th Street SE will continue west on SR 522 and follow a signed detour using the Fales/Echo Lake Road intersection and eastbound SR 522. Drivers wishing to enter westbound SR 522 from 164th Street SE will take be detoured using Fryelands Blvd and eastbound US 2. Drivers should allow extra time for their trips or choose alternate routes.
This work is part of the $160 million SR 522 Snohomish River to US 2 widening project. Crews are widening the highway to four lanes between the Snohomish River Bridge and 179th Avenue SE in Monroe: www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/SR522/Widen/SnoRiver_US2.
