Businesses in the Pilchuck Landing Shopping area are hosting a food and toy drive to assist the Snohomish Community Food Bank in feeding over 300 families for the holidays. JCPenney, Tom Walker's Hair Salon, Hill Street Cleaners and the Snohomish Boy's & Girls Club will have collection sites for canned foods, such as vegetables, fruit and soups; boxed foods like cereal, pasta and rice. They are all also collecting toys for the Tree of Giving, a program that gathers Christmas presents for Snohomish children 18 and under.
The collection will run from October 23rd through November 12th at these stores, located at the corner of 2nd and Pine in Snohomish.
“We are hosting this event to help those in need going into the holiday season. With the economy in a negative phase, there are many more people in need of assistance this year than ever. If we can help make someone's Thanksgiving or Christmas a bit happier by providing food for a family or a toy for a child, then we have met our purpose for this event: said JCPenney Store Manager Mark T. Hawthorne.
“We appreciate the Snohomish Community Food Bank for all they do to help those in need in our community.”
