Saturday media availabilities for SR 99 Alaskan Way Viaduct demolition and public events

SEATTLE – Opportunities abound for covering the action during the Alaskan Way Viaduct demolition activities on Saturday, Oct. 22. The media is invited to interview the two winners of WSDOT’s “One Last Shot” contest, Rat City Rollergirls and Seattle Cossacks; participate in the public walk on the viaduct; capture demolition progress and hear remarks from elected officials, including Gov. Chris Gregoire.
 
Media should meet at 9 a.m. at 1051 First Ave. S. Parking will be available on the west side of the building. For later arrivals, media must first check in by phone with KaDeena Yerkan or Travis Phelps (phone numbers above) for access to the site. Be prepared to wear hard hats, vests and appropriate shoes (no high heels).

Visuals: Contest winners roller skating and performing stunts on vintage motorcycles on the viaduct
