MERCER ISLAND – Two general-purpose lanes on eastbound Interstate 90 and all center-roadway express lanes from Seattle to Bellevue will be closed each night Monday, Dec. 19, through Thursday, Dec. 22.

The first of two lanes on I-90’s eastbound outer roadway will close each night at 9 p.m., and the second will close at 11pm. Both lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each morning that follows.

On the same nights, Dec. 19-22, all I-90 Express Lanes in the center  roadway will close at 8 p.m. and reopen the following mornings by 5 a.m.

In addition, the I-90 Express Lanes, center roadway, will be closed 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, for routine maintenance.

The nighttime closures are weather dependent and necessary for striping and other road work, as crews prepare for the final month of construction on Stage 2 of the I-90 Two-Way Transit and HOV Operations project. The project improves eastbound I-90 from Mercer Island to Bellevue with a new HOV lane in the outer roadway, on-ramp enhancements and pavement preservation.
