PULLMAN, Wash. — Fashion will meet "Evolution” at the 29th Annual Mom’s Weekend Fashion Show at 7:30 p.m. April 13 at Beasley Coliseum. Hosted by the Apparel Merchandising, Design and Textiles department at Washington State University, the event will showcase the fashion creations of senior and junior design students.
The event’s theme, "Evolution” reflects a concept that plays many roles in the fashion industry and encourages designers to use their own creativity to come up with three to four looks for the runway.
"This is something I have been looking forward to since I started the program,” said Hannah Tyo, a senior design student. "This is a talented group of individuals and I’m proud to graduate with them.”
Sponsored by the International Textile and Apparel Association student chapter (WSU ITAA), the show encourages active participation by students in the program. Provided with the opportunity for professional and personal development, the students gain teambuilding and networking skills, accountability, and a sense of accomplishment.
"I have attended the Mom's Weekend Fashion Show for the last three years and I wanted to help with setting it up and promoting the show,” said Katie Brown, student publicity coordinator. "It was a good way for me to get involved and gain experience with fashion events.”
A long standing tradition within the department, the fashion show combines the efforts of merchandising and design students to produce a runway show for moms and students to enjoy. The show is a representation of what the department works to achieve and provides an opportunity for both design and merchandising students to gain real life professional experience.
Admission to the event is $12 in advance and $15 at the door Tickets are available at ticketswest.com and at the Compton Union Building two weeks prior to the event.
