Snohomish County, Wash. – Following a stellar debate performance in Redmond and endorsements from three law enforcement organizations and the Seattle Times, Steve Hobbs today announced endorsements from the national Fraternal Order of Police and the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters (WSCFF).
The Fraternal Order of Police is the world's largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers, with more than 325,000 regularly appointed or elected and full-time employed law enforcement officers of the United States.
The WSCFF, which represents 130 affiliated local firefighter unions and more than 6900 affiliated members of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) within the state, rounds out public safety support for Hobbs’ Congressional campaign.
These endorsements further demonstrate Hobbs’ ability to cross partisan political divides and draw Republican voters from John Koster.
As the Times noted, “Hobbs has a demonstrated capacity to work across partisan lines under the most contentious circumstances. His skills and abilities are desperately needed in the U.S. Congress.”
That’s why former longtime Washington State Democratic Party Chair Paul Berendt said, “Polling clearly indicates that the people in the new 1st want a candidate from a rural area like Snohomish County and that Steve Hobbs is the only Democrat who can take votes from John Koster in the general election. My colleagues and I agree, the new 1st District leans Republican and there is only one rural Democrat who can win it and that is Steve Hobbs.”
In addition to serving in the Washington State Senate, Hobbs also serves as an officer in the Washington National Guard and proudly served in Iraq and Kosovo. He and his wife Pam have three boys and live in Lake Stevens.
