Crews working to widen State Route 9 near Snohomish will close the west leg of the SR 9/188th Street SE intersection around-the-clock for a week starting Monday morning.
Both directions of 188th Street SE between SR 9 and Snohomish Avenue will be closed from 7:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5. During the closure, crews will raise the grade of 188th Street SE about four feet to match the widened highway. Drivers should allow extra time for a short detour using Snohomish Avenue and 180th Street SE.
Crews will bring in fill material and repave 188th Street SE to raise the grade of the side street to match a newly widened section of SR 9. They will also install a new drainage system.
Crews are widening more than two miles of SR 9 near Clearview. When work is complete in fall 2013, drivers will have two lanes in each direction of SR 9, new turn lanes at key intersections, and a raised median to separate oncoming traffic and reduce the risk of serious collisions.
