New online software training available through Employment Security

The Employment Security Department has expanded a popular service that allows Washington residents to learn computer software programs for free. All working-age residents of Washington are eligible for free online courses to learn software by Adobe, Apple, IBM, Intuit, Microsoft, SAP, and others. Registered users can take as many courses as they want, at their own pace, on their own schedule.

Community Resource Fair
Unless Congress acts, the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program will expire at the end of December, effectively cutting over 45,000 people off from benefits statewide. In response, WorkSource Snohomish County is hosting a Community Resource Fair on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at WorkSource Everett, located at 3201 Smith Ave in Everett.

The resource fair will provide information and referrals for job search, veterans' services, housing, child care, food assistance, senior programs, healthcare, utility assistance, financial survival, an services for people with disabilities. The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) will also be onsite with their Mobile Community Services Office, able to help people apply for Basic Food, cash, medical benefits, and other services.

Medical Job Fair
Job Candidates seeking employment in healthcare should attend the Medical Job Fair, hosted by WorkSource Snohomish County on January 31, 2013 from 10 am - 2 pm at WorkSource Everett, 3201 Smith Ave in Everett. Download a flyer here.

Self-Employment Assistance Center
The Self-Employment Assistance Program (SEA) is designed to encourage and support unemployed workers in creating their own jobs by starting their own small businesses. Under these programs, states pay a self-employed benefit, instead of regular unemployment insurance benefits, to help unemployed entrepreneurs while they are establishing businesses.
