Oath of office comes one week after County Council unanimously appoints Sheriff’s Office captain to top spot.
Following on the heels of transition in Snohomish County government, Ty Trenary is scheduled to be sworn in as the next Sheriff at 1 p.m. Monday, July 8 in the public hearing room on the first floor of the Robert J. Drewel Building.
Trenary, 47, has been in law enforcement more than 25 years, joining the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office in 1991. He most recently served as captain of the North Precinct; before that he served as contract police chief in the city of Stanwood from 2008-2012.
The Sheriff’s position became vacant on June 3 when John Lovick resigned to accept the position of County Executive.
