Let’s cross our fingers for beautiful weather this weekend as the 51st annual Aquafest moves into full swing.
With the arrival of the carnival trucks comes the excitement of another community festival with great food, loads of fun and carnival goers by the thousands.
If you want to make the most of your Aquafest weekend make sure you sign-up for one of the many sports activities available. There is truly something for every type of athlete out there. Just visit aquafest.org to register.
Don’t miss the Grand Parade on Saturday afternoon and make sure to bring something to put all that candy in. This is a real crowd pleaser each and every year.
The Children’s Parade is also a must see and a favorite for families of all ages. This short parade welcomes kids from zero to 103 years of age and will bring smiles to the faces of onlookers as the small children peddle, ride and walk their way to the finish.
The Boat Parade is held on Saturday evening before the fireworks and brings a uniqueness to Lake Stevens’ community festival. How many cities can boast a lake right in the middle of town?
The best thing about Aquafest is the camaraderie it brings to our quaint little town. Catching up with neighbors and old friends and sharing the thrill of Aquafest is something I look forward to every year.
Enjoy your weekend and I hope to see you at Aquafest 2011!
