The police department responded to 680 incidents in the week of July 18, 2010 through July 24, 2010. The following is a brief summary of some of the more notable contacts:
Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia, 07/20/2010, 95 th Avenue SE/4th Street SE A 52-year-old male was issued a criminal citation for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and released. Officers were dispatched to a complaint of an intoxicated male stumbling around in the road and attempting to cross SR 9. Upon arrival, officers located the male who requested a ride home. The male voluntarily submitted to a portable breath test and an aid car was requested due to the male’s blood alcohol level being very high. During the search of his person prior to being transported to the hospital, officers found drug paraphernalia and marijuana in his pants pocket. The items were seized as evidence and the male was transported to the hospital. The male was then issued a criminal summons and released. Indecent Exposure, 07/23/10, Main Street/20th Street NE A 32-year-old male was issued a criminal citation for indecent exposure and released. While on patrol during the Aquafest fair, an officer observed a male standing on top of an embankment. As the officer crossed the intersection, she could hear the male yelling and noticed he was using his hands to hold his shorts open in a manner to expose himself. There were many people in the area including small children. As the officer approached the male, he zipped up his shorts and began walking down the embankment. The officer caught up with the male who stated that he was just trying to urinate. The male was issued a criminal summons and released without further incident. Residential Burglary, 07/23/2010, 1900 block 125th Avenue NE A 28-year-old male was booked into jail for residential burglary. Officers were dispatched to a burglary complaint when an unknown male kicked in the back door of the victim’s residence and entered the home while the victim was there. The suspect proceeded to lay down on the kitchen floor and go to sleep. Officers located the suspect who admitted that he did not have permission to be in the residence. The scene was photographed and the suspect was placed under arrest. The male was transported to jail without further incident. Obstructing/Resisting Arrest, 07/24/10, 12100 block 22nd Street NE A 32-year-old male was booked into jail for obstructing and resisting arrest. Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in which the caller reported a male and female arguing. Upon arrival, officers contacted the male and female in an attempt to investigate the complaint. The male became increasingly agitated. The male continued to hamper the officer’s efforts to investigate the incident, at which point the officer attempted to place him under arrest for obstructing. The male resisted but was eventually placed in handcuffs. The male was transported to jail without further incident.
