Join your neighbors and learn the latest in crime prevention during this year’s National Night Out Against Crime event on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at McCollum Park.

Sponsored by the Snohomish County Executive Office in partnership with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, local police departments and area nonprofits, the annual event will feature free food, face painting, games and more, including live music by Trainwreck, a country rock band from Stanwood.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to prevent crime in their neighborhood and hear what local law enforcement is doing to reduce crime and protect families.

“This annual event is an excellent opportunity for families and individuals to learn how they can make our community a little safer,” said Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon. “It’s also a great chance to meet the women and men who work and serve in public safety.”

Families can visit booths hosted by the Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management, Fire Districts 1 and 7, Mill Creek Police Department, Naval Station Everett, plus many more. Emergency vehicles and personnel will be onsite to offer information on crime prevention and emergency response.

There also will be free hot dogs, free corn-on-the-cob provided by SnoCope Credit Union, and free sno-cones provided by the Mill Creek Lions Club. United Way of Snohomish County will offer free children’s books, and other booths will offer additional giveaways and handouts.

The event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at McCollum Pioneer Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. About 1,500 people attended last year’s Night Out at McCollum Park. For more information, contact Kevin Hulten at 425-388-3460 or Kevin.hulten@snoco.org.
