Kaylee Cruse in a scene from Rivertown.
Local non-profit distribution company, the Washington State Studio Network, is premiering its recently acquired film, Rivertown, across Washington State.
Rivertown is a comedy based on the lives of the four owners of a failed pawnshop located in a small town. The only means of retaining their business is to pay their expenses by holding a garage sale. Their lives are interrupted by the unexpected arrival of three college students from the city, who become stranded while passing through town.
The film was produced by Wasted Talent Films of Snohomish County, and includes talent from Lake Stevens such as actor Kaylee Cruse, a Lake Stevens High School graduate.
The film privately premiered last October to an audience of 250+. The film will be released to the public this week (April 23) in multiple cities. So far, theaters in Bellingham, Everett, Snohomish, Bothell, Lynnwood, Ellensburg, Cheney and Spokane are showing the movie.
The objective of the WSSN is to establish a working relationship with college campus and small art house theaters. A local theater network is the first step in generating an abundance of locally produced Washington movies.
