Highland Elementary and LS High School on lockdownJOURNAL STAFF The morning of Thursday, Feb. 15, Lake Stevens Police responded to a call regarding a man who was armed and threatening suicide on the 115th block of 26th Ave. NE.
The man was reported to have been drinking in his home and the caller was fearful he had a weapon.
The officers set-up containment around the home and because of the close proximity to schools, they requested that both Highland Elementary and Lake Stevens High School be locked down as a precautionary measure.
After the man walked out of his house and onto his back deck the police were able to secure him without incident. He was then taken to Providence Hospital for evaluation.
After almost two hours both schools were able to resume a normal school day.
Police then searched the residence where they did not find any weapons.
