Lake Stevens Family Center awarded $10,000Local families benefit from
With the help of the Lake Stevens community and the staff at the Family Center, not only did they reach their $10,000 goal but exceeded it by collecting over $17,000.
On Feb. 12 at the Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce meeting, Pacific Ridge Homes’, Peter Wheeler presented the Family Center with a large check in the amount of $10,000, bringing the grand total to over $27,000.
“The additional $27,000 that we were able to add to our operating funds this year, with the generous contributions generated by Pacific Ridge Homes’ investment, will allow us to increase our staffing allowing us to outreach in areas of the community that will benefit from our opportunities including local, non-English speaking parents and their children,” Kathleen Friend, Program Manager for the Lake Stevens Family Center said.
The Family Center works with many families in the area. Some of the programs they sponsor include preparing children for back-to-school, collecting clothing and coats and also helping them with other day-to-day needs.
Pacific Ridge Homes is a family owned business out of Everett and serves Snohomish County and North King County.
“Being able to donate to the Center was a gift to me as well as the people of Pacific Ridge Homes,” said Mike Kinney, one of the company’s owners. “All of us here have families and we can’t imagine kids not having anything for Christmas. We wanted to help these families in our community.”
Friend is grateful to live and work in a community that supports one another and the needs of those around them.
“I only hope that Pacific Ridge Homes and everyone who answered their challenge, eagerly and without reservation, realizes the difference they will make in the lives of hundreds of families”, Friend said.
