Frontier Circle neighborhood hears gunshots

Lake Stevens home fired upon
BY PAM STEVENS | EDITOR The Lake Stevens Police are working in conjunction with the Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Team and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s office investigating a shooting incident, which occurred last week in Lake Stevens.

Last Wednesday, Dec. 12, Lake Stevens Police responded to the 8800 block of 9th Place NE in the Frontier Circle West area to reports of gunshots.

When officers arrived they found a house that had several bullet holes in the front yard and bullet casings scattered throughout the driveway.

Nobody was present inside or outside of the house and police were unable to locate the home owner at that time.

“Officers conducted a quick search for anybody that was injured,” Lake Stevens Police Chief Randy Celori said.

After traces of blood were discovered, the officers secured the residence and had a search warrant authorized.

Later that evening the police were able to find the homeowner, John, a man in his early 50’s. They found two males in their 20’s who also lived at the home.

The 20-year-old residents claimed that around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning two men came to their home looking for drugs.

“Two males in their mid-20’s forced their way into the house looking for money and drugs,” Celori said. “One resident fled while the other resident became involved in a physical altercation during which time the two males went through the sliding glass door.”

It is believed that both individuals were injured. The resident did sustain multiple lacerations to his arm and got himself to the hospital.

Eight rounds were fired into the house and at least three rounds were fired from inside the house.

“The house was fired upon and the people inside the house returned gunfire,” Celori said. “We definitely believe it is drug related.”

None of the rounds fired hit other homes in the neighborhood.

“They were very lucky,” Celori said.

John, the homeowner is busy cleaning up after the shooting and is waiting to talk to the police once more in hopes of seeing someone arrested.

“They (the police) want to re-interview us while they are still figuring it all out,” he said.
