Fire damages Lake Stevens residence

Vigilant neighbor awakens woman sleeping inside home JOURNAL STAFF A house in the 1100 block of 103rd Drive SE was damaged by fire Sunday, May 18. Arriving fire units encountered heavy smoke and flames from the roof on the back side of the structure.

Fifteen firefighters from Lake Stevens Fire along with seven firefighters from Snohomish and Getchell Fire fought the fast spreading fire. Firefighters were able to stop the fire within 25 minutes of arriving on scene.

The fire moved quickly from the rear of the house to the attic space and into the interior of the house. A woman sleeping inside the house at the time of the fire was awakened by neighbors and was able to escape without injury.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
