LIGHTS AND SIRENS

The police department responded to 431 incidents in the week of September 14, 2008 to September 20, 2008.
The following is a brief summary of some of the
more notable events:
DUI & Hit and Run Collision, 9/14/2008, 8300 blk 9th Street Ne
A 24-year-old male was arrested for DUI and hit and run when he ran into a parked vehicle and then fled the scene. The victim was at home when he heard a bang and a moment later someone was knocking on his door. The victim answered the door and a witness to the collision advised the victim his car had been hit. The witness gave the victim a description of the suspect’s car which was located at a nearby residence. Officers contacted the suspect and placed him into custody.

Fraud, 9/16/2008, 2300 blk 116th Avenue Ne
A report was taken on a fraudulent check and forwarded to the felony prosecutor’s office. A business owner called 911 when he attempted to cash a check for services rendered and was advised there were insufficient funds to cover the check. The 31-year-old male suspect was contacted regarding the check. The suspect stated the money was in the bank for two weeks after he wrote the check. He stated since the business didn’t cash the check, he decided to spend it and no longer has the money to pay the owner. Criminal charges were referred by mail.

Illegal Drug Possession/Warrant Service, 9/17/2008, 800 blk Frontage Road
Felony drug charges were referred to the prosecutor. While on patrol, an officer observed a female make an illegal u-turn. The officer stopped the vehicle and contacted the 21-year-old female driver. The female had illegal drugs in plain view in her vehicle. The female was advised felony charges would be filed in court and released from the scene. A check of the 23-year-old male passenger’s identification revealed he had an active arrest warrant. He was placed in custody and drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle where he had been sitting. He was booked into jail.

Vehicle Theft/Eluding, 9/19/08, Soper Hill Road/Lake Drive
A 19-year-old male was booked into jail for vehicle theft. While on patrol, an officer located a vehicle being driven by a male that had just been reported as stolen to Marysville Police Department. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle ran out of gas and the suspect fled on foot. The suspect ran into a barbed wire fence. Officers placed the male in custody without further incident and transported him to jail.
