L.S. Lions name Peace Poster winners

Phud Tram, a student at Lake Stevens Middle School, has taken the first step to becoming an internationally recognized artist by winning the local competition sponsored by the Lake Stevens Lions Club. Tran’s poster won first place, Shelby Nichols’ poster was chosen as second place and Kenia Diaz’s poster was selected third from over 30 posters that were judged at the Lions Club’s December meeting.

The winners were judged on originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the theme, “Peace Begins with Me”.

Tram’s poster will now advance to face stiff competition t

hrough the Multiple District and International rounds of competition.
Last year, more than 375,000 entrees were entered worldwide.
Lake Stevens Lions Club President, Rusty Fenrich said that he was impressed by the expression and creativity of the students at Lake Stevens Middle School.

“It is obvious that these young people have strong ideas about what peace means to them. I am so proud that we were able to provide them with the opportunity to share their visions,” he said.

The students and their parents received dinner at an awards ceremony last night during the Lions Club meeting at Ebenezer Lutheran Church.
