Lights and Sirens
The police department responded to 436 incidents in the week of January 4 to January 10, 2009. The following is a brief summary of some of the more notable contacts: Theft 2/Possession Marijuana/Resist Arrest, 01/04/2009, 1100 blk Frontier Circle
A 19-year-old male was booked into jail for theft and resisting arrest. An off-duty police officer witnessed a male stealing items out of a locker room and confronted him. The off-duty officer attempted to keep the male there while an employee phoned 911, but the suspect broke free from the officer’s grasp, running out the front door. The suspect was later located and placed under arrest. Marijuana was found during a search of his belongings. The male was transported to jail.
Suspicious Circumstances, 01/05/2009, 8900 blk Vernon Road
An informational report was taken when a medical facility called to report they had a male there with a stab wound. Officers arrived and contacted the 27-year-old male victim. The male reported that he was at a friend’s house and a fight broke out in the kitchen. The victim was unaware he had been stabbed until he saw the knife. He removed the knife and drove to the medical facility. The male stated he didn’t know who stabbed him and he didn’t want to report the incident.
Possession Marijuana/False Statement, 01/08/2008, 1600 blk Main Street
A 25-year-old female and 21-year-old male were booked into jail for making a false statement to an officer and drug possession. During a traffic stop, it was discovered the female driver had a suspended license. The passenger provided the investigating officer with a fake name because he thought he had a warrant for his arrest. The passenger’s true identity was discovered and he was placed under arrest for making a false statement to an officer. During a search of the vehicle and their belongings, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found. The vehicle was impounded and both the male and female were transported to jail.
Theft/Warrant Service, 01/10/2009, 9600 blk Market Place
A 25-year-old male was booked into jail on a felony arrest warrant and theft charges. Officers were dispatched to a theft complaint when the store security officer observed a male conceal items and leave the store. The security officer had the male in custody when he observed the suspect take a bag of pills from his pocket and swallow them. Officers arrived and checked the suspect’s identification which revealed he had an active felony arrest warrant. The AID crew arrived and transported the male to the hospital prior to being transported to jail.
