4th grade classroom wins water conservation award

Pilchuck Audubon Society has awarded Mrs. Lindsay Washo’s fourth grade class from Hillcrest Elementary School a Classroom Conservation  Award.

Mrs. Washo will be receiving a $250 award for her “water conservation project” as part of a physical science unit on water. 

The $250 award will be used to purchase picture books and novels that promote water and other types of conservation.  The books will be used in teacher directed lessons as well as student led book clubs.  The books will enhance student learning by providing students with knowledge about conservation through non-fiction and fiction texts.  Students will think about ways they use water everyday and discover ways to use water less.
