Lights and Sirens
The police department responded to 416 incidents in the week of February 22 to February 28, 2009. The following is a brief summary of some of the more notable contacts: Theft 3°/Vehicle Prowl, 02/23/2009, Callow Road/Sr 92
A 42-year-old male was issued criminal citations for theft, vehicle prowl, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers were dispatched to an in-progress vehicle prowl when a commuter driving by observed the male break the window out of an unoccupied disabled vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located the male and placed him into custody. The owner of the vehicle was notified. All the property stolen from the car was recovered at the scene. The suspect admitted to breaking into the car and the theft. He was advised criminal charges would be forwarded to the court and released.
Weapon Violation/Theft/Vehicle Prowl, 02/23/2009, 1700 blk Main Street
A 32-year-old male was booked into jail on theft, vehicle prowl, and weapon violation charges. Officers were dispatched to a theft complaint. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim who reported the theft and also advised officers that he noticed a cell phone in his car that didn’t belong to him. Officers identified the owner of the phone and contacted a relative of the owner who provided a description of the car he was driving. The vehicle was located and stopped. The suspect was placed into custody and a 10” dagger was located concealed next to the driver’s seat in the car. The suspect admitted that he was unaware he dropped his cell phone in the victim’s vehicle during the commission of the crime and admitted to the theft. He was transported to jail.
Agency Assist, 02/26/2009, 300 blk 91st Avenue Ne
A 24-year-old male was arrested for armed robbery. Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance in locating a vehicle involved in the robbery. The suspect implied he had a gun and stole a purse from the victim. The victim was able to provide the license plate of the vehicle the suspect left in. Officers located the vehicle and contacted the male. The male initially provided a false name, but after his true identity was revealed officers learned he also had a warrant for his arrest. The male was transported to jail and the vehicle was seized as evidence in the robbery.
Vehicle Collision, 02/27/09, 28th Street and Machias Road
A 64-year-old male was arrested for DUI after driving his vehicle into a ditch. The male reached into the back of his car and grabbed a beer and opened it. He began drinking the beer as he left the scene on foot. Officers placed the male under arrest and turned him over to Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office who assisted in the investigation.
