Police looking for property stolen in Machias robbery

Suspects use credit cards, checks in Pierce County BY PAM STEVENS | EDITOR Some credit cards and personal checks stolen during a home invasion robbery in Machias earlier this month have been used in Pierce County stores, and sheriff’s detectives hope someone recognizes the people in the attached photos.

The robbery was reported about 8:30 a.m. Sunday, March 1. A man said that two men wearing black shirts that said “Police” on them came to his door in the 2300 block of Russell Road in Machias where he and his girlfriend live.

He was calling 911 when the men kicked in the door. The men had guns and reportedly handcuffed the man.

The robbers kept asking about the whereabouts of a person who does live at the house but wasn’t home at the time of the robbery.

The two men stole some items, including the victims’ credit cards and personal checks and then left. The man and his girlfriend were not injured during the robbery.

Detectives said they don’t believe this was a random act.
Detectives have learned that the stolen credit cards and checks were used at stores in Pierce County shortly after the robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 425-388-3845.
