An airplane that was
stolen from Boundary County Idaho Airport in Bonners Ferry, Idaho last Thursday
night was found just outside of Granite Falls.
At around 8 p.m.
Sunday night, the owners of a home near 21200 Menzel Lake Road called 911 to
report a break-in at their home, which is near the sight where the plane
crashlanded.
It was reported that
items such as blankets, food and shoes were missing from the home and found
near the crash sight by Snohomish County Sheriff’s Deputies Sunday night.
As deputies were
investigating the supply of stolen goods they found in the woods, a gun shot
rang out. No one was injured.
A massive manhunt
was underway Sunday night and into Monday morning where many roads in Granite
Falls were closed off while helicopters and police searched for the suspect.
Authorities believe
that serial burglar Colton Harris-Moore, 18, who is suspected of several
burglaries on Camano Island may be responsible for the plane crash and taking
the plane from the Idaho airport.
Harris-Moore is also
suspected of stealing two planes from the San Juan Islands.
Snohomish County
Sheriff’s office does not know at this time who is responsible for stealing the
plane. The burglary and airplane robbery are two separate cases.
County Sheriff’s
Deputies are being assisted by most of the police departments within the county
and a SWAT team is involved in the search.
The suspect had not
been found when the Journal went to press.
