Over 885 items were collected and distributed to the two Granite Falls food banks. Small toiletry items were also included in the donations.
Students from Stacy Simmons’ fourth grade class also supported the food drive by helping to count and sort the items for pick-up. Mountain Way is divided into three “wings” or hallways and B-wing earned an extra recess for bringing in the most items.
“This was a great way for my students to learn about helping others, for our school to work together, and for all of us to have a positive impact on our community,” teacher Joelle Wright said.
