Kristopher Johnson, 32, from Arlington, holds his winning check from Washington Lottery.
The Chevron station off of Highway 9 in Lake Stevens Frontier Village helped make Kristopher Johnson, 32, from Arlington, a multimillionaire just days before Thanksgiving.
The store sold the winning ticket for the Friday, Nov. 20, $6.5 million Lotto drawing. The winning numbers are 05-09-11-22-45-48
“Oh my gosh! Are you kidding?” exclaimed a store employee when notified by the Lottery. Deborah and others were working the night shift at the store and were excited by the news.
“We just can’t wait to find out who it is; hopefully it’s one of our regular customers,” Deborah said.
The store found out on Monday, Nov. 23 that Johnson was the lucky winner.
That gas station is not a normal stop for me,” Johnson said.
He and his son were headed to his grandpa’s to help do some work on the house.
“My grandpa lives on North Lakeshore Dr. and we stopped for some snacks,” he said.
Over the weekend, Johnson said his “better half” April was checking the numbers online.
“I heard her make some noise and then she called me over to make sure we had all of the numbers.”
Sure enough, all of the numbers matched and Johnson was a multimillionaire in a matter of minutes.
“I didn’t know how to feel. It was like ‘wow’,” he said.
Still in shock, Johnson does know that the first of the money will go to helping out his grandparents with their house.
“I haven’t even told my kids yet,” Johnson said.
It should be a great Christmas at the Johnson house this year.
The jackpot is the largest drawing since February. For their efforts, the Lake Stevens Chevron will receive a retail selling bonus of $65,000. Store employees say it’s the first major jackpot ticket the store has sold.
Lotto Jackpots start at $1 million and tickets cost $1 for two chances to win. Lotto drawings are every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday night at 8 p.m. Pacific Time.
