The 1990 Ford Escort took out a private dock before plummeting into Lake Stevens last Tuesday Dec. 1. Getting around the south end of Lake Stevens last Tuesday, Dec. 1 took a little more time than usual.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. a 21-year-old Snohomish man drove his car into Lake Stevens while he was heading south on East Lake Stevens Road and Third St. NE taking a private dock with him.
“He apparently lost control of the vehicle he was driving and ended up in the lake,” Snohomish County Sheriff’s spokesperson Rebecca Hover said.
The 1990 Ford Escort ended up on its roof in about a foot of water leaving a small amount of gas and oil in the lake. The Department of Ecology was notified.
“The driver made it out of the car,” Hover said.
He did suffer minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Traffic was backed up around the lake for over an hour.
