A drive around Lake Stevens last Friday brought more than picture perfect photos, flames and black smoke could be seen shooting from a house just off of North Lakeshore Drive.
At 12:11 p.m. on April 9, a 911 call came into Lake Stevens Fire District regarding a house fire on the 11900 block of North Lakeshore Drive.
Flames were shooting from the garage as firefighters arrived at 12:13 p.m.
“The fire started in the garage where one of the occupants was working on a motorcycle,” Lake Stevens Fire District Battalion Chief Perry Putnam said. “Fuel from the gas tank ignited, possibly from a kerosene heater.” The fire was considered a two-alarm fire bringing over 40 firefighters from Lake Stevens, Granite Falls, Getchell, Snohomish and Marsyviile.
Firefighers were able to respond quickly to the flames, putting the fire out in less than an hour. “The majority of the fire was knocked down within 20 minutes and the fire was completely out within 45 minutes,” Putnam said.
There were several motorcycles and cars in the garage. “Everything in garage was destroyed,” Putnam said. “The roof was completely off of the house as well as the siding.”
There were no injuries from the fire. The Fire Marshall estimates the damage to be around $275,000.
