Mark Lavering, Ian DuPape, Ryan Lavering, Peter Melton and Talen Gunnell from Boy Scout Troop 183, each received their Eagle Scout designations after completing all requirements including an Eagle Scout project.Ian DuPape, 18, Talan Gunnell,16, Mark Lavering,13, Ryan Lavering,16 and Peter Melton, 18, were recently honored at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on April 30.
All five young men are members of Troop 183, sponsored by the Lake Stevens Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
DuPape, Ryan Lavering and Melton attend Lake Stevens High School while Gunnell attends high school at Montessori Schools of Snohomish County and Mark Lavering attends Cavelero Mid High.
Dupape, Melton and Gunnell are also participating in the Running Start program at Everett Community College.
Melton’s Eagle project was to clear and re-establish 700 feet of overgrown trail for the Everett Parks.
DuPape chose to install an internet/computer/phone network at Ensign Ranch, in Cle Elem, Wash. This included installing ethernet cable, speaker, phone line, internet jacks and intercom phones from the office to the lodge and to the ranch manager’s quarters.
Gunnell’s Eagle project was to repair and replace several park benches and tables at Howarth Park in Everett.
Ryan’s Eagle project involved building a footbridge at Catherine Creek Park in Lake Stevens and refilling disc golf tee boxes with gravel.
For Mark’s Eagle project, he designed and built a 9-hole disc golf course at Cascade Park in Arlington.
Each project provided a great opportunity for the scouts, family and friends to give service to the surrounding communities.
