Crews closed the west end of East Soper Hill Road at its intersection with State Route 9 starting at 12:01 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30 and it will continue to be closed through Friday, Sept. 3.
During the closure, crews will lower the roadway to match the new elevation of SR 9, where crews have been widening the highway.
The closure affects about a half-mile stretch of Soper Hill Road and 25 residences.
Drivers will follow a signed detour around the closure, using Lake Drive to access E. Soper Hill Road. Completely closing E. Soper Hill Road at SR 9 allows crews to complete construction quickly and keep drivers safe on SR 9. Rain could delay the work, but crews are pushing to have the work done before the Labor Day weekend and before the new school year begins.
This work is part of a larger project to widen SR 9 to four lanes between SR 92 and Lundeen Parkway.
