Ken Collins, current Lake Stevens High School Principal, has just accepted the position of Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources effective July 1, 2011.
Ken Collins has served the school district with distinction for the past 21 years. At Lake Stevens High School he taught Honors courses in Contemporary World Issues, Contemporary American Issues, United States History, and Washington State History for 13 years. During that time he was Head Football Coach and an Assistant Track Coach.
In January of 2002 Collins took on the position of Dean of Students, in the fall of 2004 became an Associate Principal, and July of 2005 became the Principal of Lake Stevens High School.
Awards and Honors: During his time at Lake Stevens Collins has received two Apple Awards for teaching excellence, was named Head Coach for the All State Football Game in 1995, named Everett Herald Coach of the Year in 1993 and 1999, and Everett Herald Man of the Year in Sports in 1994. In January of 2010 he was named WESCO Principal of the Year and in the fall of 2010 Lake Stevens High School was named a School of Distinction for academic progress over time.
Education: Collins received his bachelor’s degree from Washington State University, his Master’s in Educational Administration from Central Washington University and a second master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Principal Certificate from City University.
Prior to coming to Lake Stevens Collins taught at Marysville-Pilchuck High School for six years.
