The cast of Grease show off their costumes designed by sisters Laurie Faaberg
and Becky Walsh, owners of “Gussie and Gertie’s” costume shop.
Lake Stevens High School Drama Club presents the popular musical Grease April 28, 29, 30 and May 5, 6, and 7 at 7 p.m. with one matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at the LSHS Performing Arts Center. Director, Carrie Gerrard’s creative vision for Grease’s costumes is coming together with the help of sisters Laurie Faaberg and Becky Walsh, retired schoolteachers and owners of “Gussie and Gertie’s” costume shop in Arlington, Wash.
“Gussie and Gertie’s” have created costumes for the LSHS Drama Club since Beauty and the Beast in 2009.
In 2010 the team won “The 5th Avenue Theater Award” for outstanding costume design for LSHS’ The Mikado.
“The professional look and feel of our shows has improved dramatically since pairing up with Laurie and Becky,” said Gerrard. “For Grease, we are using vintage pieces when we can and with expertise of ‘Gussie and Gertie’s,’ we are achieving a wonderful effect.”
Tickets for Grease featuring senior Alex Tweedie as “Danny,” introducing sophomore Britta Schwendtke as “Sandy,” senior Richard Ellis Williams as “Kinickie,” junior and a nominee for “The Fifth Avenue Award” Audrey Fletcher as “Rizzo,” are $10 each for adults and students without ASB cards, $9 for senior citizens and students with ASB cards, $8 for children under 10. Parental guidance is strongly advised.
