Donated cans of food for Relay for Life will be used in the luminaria at Relay.
When Relay for Life Lake Stevens needed a thousand cans of food for their luminaria event, the students at Highland and Sunnycrest Elementary Schools took on the challenge through a competition between the schools.
After weeks of gathering food items, the cans were counted and over 1,500 cans of food were donated.
After Relay for Life Lake Stevens on May 14 and 15, the cans will be given to the Lake Stevens Food Bank.
Mom, Denise Webb headed up the project and Relay for Life Event Chair Kim Demary picked up all of the cans.
