The City has been planning to perform a pavement resurfacing of the west end of 20th Street SE, west of Cavelero Road, since March of this year. Weather has been an issue that has resulted in delays to getting this work performed.
As we get further into spring, it is expected that dry weather will allow the work to be performed. While a date for the work has not been set yet, it is planned to be performed on a Friday and Saturday to keep the disruption to the public to a minimum.
The work on Friday will be the preparation of the roadway surface. This will require some closing of one of the two lanes while the work is performed.
Motorists can expect delays during this work which should be completed within a few hours. The roadway will be reopened to full two way travel Friday evening. On Saturday, the roadway will be completely closed from early in the morning to late afternoon.
Signs are planned to be posted at least two days in advance of this closure to give the public advance notification. During the Saturday work, the eastbound off ramp on US 2 to 20th Street SE will be closed. This ramp is expected to be reopened by later afternoon.
A detour route will be posted during the closure on Saturday. If you have questions, please contact Scott Wicken at 425-212-3312.
