Fifth graders in Becky Fuentes’ class at Highland Elementary School participated in “The Great Money Challenge III” put on by the Imagine Children’s Museum.
They were given $10 and told to use their time, money and talents to create a philanthropy project.
The class chose to host an after school “Jamboree for Charity” with Zumba, hula hoop, four square and more. They also chose the beneficiary as N.O.A.H. animal shelter because they love animals.
The students charged $5 for each child who participated.
“Between participants and donations my class raised $460 to donate to the charity,” Fuentes said.
On Monday, Dec. 12 the representative from N.O.A.H. came and spoke to the class and the students presented them with the check.
“It was a wonderful experience and one I would love for my students to share with their community,” Fuentes said.
