A new program is coming to the Lake Stevens Family Center starting Monday, April 9 for girls ages 11-15.
Go Girl Go! is a creation from the Women’s Sports Foundation that is an eight week program from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. that includes 45 minutes of physical exercise and 45 minutes of small group discussions and team building games.
We already know the wonderful effects that physical activity participation can have on girls. It can enhance their lives physically, emotionally and socially. Go Girl Go! combines sports participation with an educational intervention that focuses on reducing and preventing the potential hazards of dealing with adolescent issues in unhealthy ways.
The sports environment provides girls with experiences of teamwork, goal setting, positive adult mentoring and leadership training.
As the girls get active in this program they will gain a healthy self-image and learn to create a positive surrounding while becoming leaders. At the end of their time together the group will team up with Relay For Life to become vocal advocates in our own community and to know what it means to support other groups. For more information or to sign up your girl for this completely free program just call Kirsten at the Lake Stevens Family Center 425-397-7433.
