Lake Stevens will soon be decked out in purple to promote Relay for Life of Lake Stevens and to create awareness for cancer research and The American Cancer Society.

Businesses and homes will be trimmed in purple bows, signs, ribbons, flowers and many other items to show that they support Relay for Life and to finding a cure for cancer.

Everyone is invited to decorate their yards and businesses. Prizes will be given to the best of show!
On Saturday, April 28, the Paint the Town Purple celebration will start off with a pancake breakfast at the Lake Stevens Community Center sponsored by the Lake Stevens Kiwanis Relay for Life teams. The breakfast will open at 7:30 a.m. and run until 9 a.m.

Lake Stevens’ first-ever Bark for Life will begin promptly at 10 a.m. with registration starting at 9:30 a.m.
Bark for Life honors the caregiver qualities of canine companions and is a noncompetitive walk event for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer. 

The cost to register your dog is $25 the day of the event or $20 if you pre-register at www.relayforlife.org/lakestevens or by calling 425-319-1790.

Beginning at 10 a.m., there will be a Fundraising Craft Show, which will feature vendors who will be set-up all over North Cove Park. Everything from baked goods to jewelry will be sold and all donations will go towards Relay for Life. Booths open at 10 a.m.

The second annual Purple Siege, an Amazing Race style event, will also take place that day. The race will start promptly at 9 a.m.

Teams of four will be scouring downtown to find secret items. The winners will receive a gift basket with tons of great prizes and a monetary donation to go towards their Relay for Life team.

It is sure to be a day filled with fun and hope. Hope that through these efforts, everyone will be able to celebrate more birthdays!
