Cabela’s, the World’s Foremost Outfitters, is now open in Tulalip just south of the Outlet Mall. It seems, however, that every outdoor enthusiast in North Snohomish County already knows this as evidenced by the line of eager shoppers on opening day last Thursday, April 19.
The crowd that gathered in the parking lot and down the sidewalk was not disappointed in the new 110,000 square foot store, the third in Washington state.
“We have a lot of great customers in this area. We know that from our online sales,” Joe Arterburn, Cabela’s Corporate Communications Manager out of Sydney, Nebraska said. “It’s pretty easy for us to put a pin where our good customers are.”
This is why Cabela’s chose to open a store right here, only 15 minutes north of Lake Stevens.
Not only does Cabela’s bring gear and equipment for almost every outdoor sport, but it also supplies over 250 full and part time jobs for those living in the area.
“We have people with a passion for the outdoors and people who understand customer service,” Arterburn said. “There’s a lot of good people in this area. We are very happy with the staff.”
The store offers everything from fishing equipment, hunting equipment, clothing and shoes, gifts and more. They even have two 8,000 square foot aquariums, one warm water and one cold water.
In addition, they have antique and specialty guns in their Gun Library.
The store is full of educational opportunities as well as including an almost life-sized mountainside scene which includes several taxidermy animals in their “natural” habitat. Throughout the store you will find trees above your head with footprints on the ground. If you look up, you will see the animals whose footprints are on the walkways.
“If you walk under a tree, make sure you look up,” Arterburn said.
Cabela’s has given the store a local feel by using artwork from the Tulalip Tribe along with beautifully painted scenes from the San Juan Islands, Mt. Rainier and other familiar sites.
Cabela’s has made it their business to cater to the outdoorsman and his family by including items for the entire family.
“The outdoors is a family activity. If the wife and kids aren’t comfortable, it’s going to be harder to get them out there,” Arterburn explained.
Cabela’s prices are competitive or even lower than most other outdoor stores and they even have a Bargain Cave where returned and discontinued items can be purchased at a great price.
They also have many items with their own brand name on them including clothing, shoes, food items and more.
“We’ve developed so much expertise over the years that we’ve created our own brand,” Arterburn said.
Even if you aren’t an avid outdoors enthusiast, you will enjoy a trip to Cabela’s.
